DAY – 1
BODRUM
Bodrum is one of the best starts for sailing around the Aegean sea-coast of Turkey. The Gökova Cove is accepted by almost everyone to be one of the best cruising zones in Europe. With supperabundant sunshine, crystal clear glassy waters, endless blue skies which make your day better, good harbors and friendly, debonair people, This coast provides you many choices. There are many uncorrupted areas rich in natural beauty and in costal settlements and villages. Bodrum is a port town in Muğla city, in the southwest of Aegean Region of Turkey. It is placed on the southern coast of Bodrum Peninsula, at a point that controls the entrance into the Gulf of Gökova. The city was known as Halicarnassus of Caria in ancient times and was known for housing the Mausoleum of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Bodrum Castle, built by the Crusaders in the 15th century, it had the view of harbor and the marina. The castle grounds include a Museum of Underwater Archeology and entertains many cultural festivals year long.
DAY– 2 ORAK ISLAND, COKERTME BAY
Orak Island, positioned 10 miles to the east of Bodrum, is known for its rich maritime life and crystal clear blue waters. It is a popular point where Gulets and Sailing Yachts on Gokova trips do not pass without pausing. The island stretches opposite of the Kargicik Isle and has prominent shores guarded with olive trees in the down slopes of the mounts. There is no settling on the island but there are sheltered bays that you can berth at in the north. To its east, the sea looks like an aquarium. Tea will be served in Yaliciftlik Cove. An optional town tour can be organised from this bay for those people who want to experience the local life. Cokertme, singed in the native folk songs, is an important stopover before or after crossing the Gokova Gulf. Cokertme Bay its name is rooted on the small town settled along its side. Cokertme Bay is positioned among Kepce Burnu and Karaburun and is a guarded place for spending the night. It is popular amongst the yachtsmen community because of the fact that it protects the boats against the wild winds specially those blowing from the west-north and west-east way. The Cokertme shoreline is long and spotted with range of pine and olive trees. The place has many local restaurants providing delicious food to tourists at reasonable prices. Tourists can also enjoy outstanding belly dancing performances at night!
DAY– 3 SEVEN ISLANDS, KUFRE BAY, LONG PORT, ENGLISH HARBOUR
One of the best stops during the Blue Gulet Cruise is at the Seven Islands, a seclusive cove to the southern of Tuzla. It is an ideal point for swimming, snorkeling, fishing and sponge diving. Vacationers love to collect hunt fish and sponges here. You can stop by the natural harbour of Kufre or take a calm walk on the seashore along the Gulluk Forest. The southern coast of the Gulf of Gokova in across the four islands is covered with huge pine forests that spread across kms along the coast and among the two a natural cove is created. You can berth betwixt the islands or inside a bay and rest in calm in any weather condition. On the west, there is the bare island of Martil. To the south and the east, there are magnificent beaches where you can swim or easily relax, sun-bathing in the sun. Other islands include the Long Island, Olive Island, and the Small Islands. Not all beaches are jagged and rocky, although the islands are mostly barren. But if you are a nature lover, you can enjoy a nice trail in the cove areas covered with pine trees. Camalti, Single Port, Karacam port, the port of Long, Dark and Gullu Kufre cove and island are the most important anchoring points in the Seven Islands. Long Port heads to the east for about 1000ms, narrows and closes by a pool. The entranceway is about 130 ms wide and it makes a large cove after the entrance. Tied coves in the area are fully covered with stunning pine trees. The settings are impressive.
English Harbor, according to the locals, British naval vessels were hid at this English Harbor during World War II. During the German occupation of the Greek Islands, two British military aircrafts with skeletons of the pilots were discovered by Turkish divers at the English Harbor. It is suggested that these two airplanes were shutdown by German anti craft guns form the near by Greek Islands in 1942. So this beautiful place is full of history that you can go and see with your brand-new Turkyacht Gulet!
DAY– 4
SEDIR ISLAND, KARACASOGUT
Cleopatra Island (Sedir Island - Cedrae) is positioned around 18 kms north of Marmaris. Cleopatra Island is also known as Sedir Island or City Island and is known for its golden sandy beach known as Cleopatra Beach and the old city of Cedrae. The remnants of the city walls can be seen on this island. It is also famous for its ancient theatre ruins.
There is an interesting beach on the small bay, north-west of the island. If folk lore is to be believed, Cleopatra and Antonius swam here and the sands were brought by the ships from North Africa! It is also believed that this type of sand can only be seen in Egypt. The ruins on the eastern side of the island stand for the era of the Romans. The theatre area is in good condition. On this very side is also Agora, where athletics festivals used to be organized in the honor of Apollo, according to some epigraphs.
Karacasogut is a perfect bay. The forest hugs the sparkling sea and everywhere is full of rhododendrons. The mountains there are covered with fresh pine trees, and there is a styrax forest close to shore. The trees in this forest are quite wild and unusual. It’s worth-while to eat at the restaurants and take a walk there. The view from the hills is very impressive. You may want to visit Karacasogut Bay with your Luxury Gulet.
DAY– 5
LONGOZ, TUZLA BAY
Longoz has the most fascinating bays in the Cove of Gokova. They fall down from the steep mounts and seem to roll down into the sea with the exception of a long line of trees that separates its line from the waters. Here you can savour the beautiful nature at its best! Winds blow from all directions and present the perfect conditions for medium-sized yachts looking for a mooring place to anchor in the salt water lake or in the island.
Tuzla is a charming fishermen’s village famous for its lovely restaurants and specialties with fresh sea products. There are a lot of small farmers, nursery gardens and bee-keepers. The shallow water attracts wading birds and other wildlife. It is an area of outstanding beauty and players of the noble game of Gulf will love this area as it has been chosen for the development of a number of Gulf courses. DAY– 6
KISE BUKU, KADIRGA BAY
Settled only 5 kms away from Orak Island is Kise Buku (Alakisla Buku), a name derives from the word “kilise” (church) due to the ruins of the Byzantine Abbeys discovered in this area. It is crucial for all Gulets to anchor here at a very large bay. This bay is surrounded by mountains in the north, and western winds blow in the eastern side of the island against. At Alakisla, you will encounter the ruins of an old monastery by the name of Kise Bay. Kise`s name is also believed to originate from the word “church”. The must-see places in the Kise buku area include Yalikoyu, Akarca, Fork, summerhouse, bath-house, cistern and the bay where the ruins of the church are found. These call for an crucial stop during your Blue Cruise with Turkyacht Gulets. In a few coves in the vicinity, you can find wonders like cold drinking water boiling! The silhouette of a grove of Oleander trees rolling down into the sea against the glittering sandy beaches is indeed a spectacle to behold! The bay is named Kadırga (Galley) Bay regarding to its history being used to construct galleys during Ottoman Empire. Kadırga Bay is a very silent, 2 km North Aegean beach with a perfect sea shore. Besides its unique natural beauty, the bay is significant for its proximity to historical sites. It is only 2 kms away from the Antic port of Assos. On the eastern side, the bay has a view of Ayvalık and on the west, it views Greek island Lesbos. Kadırga Bay is one of the beaches of Turkey that is awarded with a Blue Flag (is an award that is given to beaches and marinas that have met stringent standards). The sea is admired for the quality and coolness of the water, for the magnificent colors and shapes of pebbles and also for the beatufiul piles of fish that swim next to you. Kadırga Bay is also a perfect site for fishing. Almost every time of the year, The shore is filled with fishermen that spend the whole night at the beach. Some of the fish that you can fish are: sea bass, gilt-head bream, sea bream, sargo, garfish and etc.
DAY– 7
PABUCBURNU, YALICIFTLIK
Located 10 kms from Bodrum and the cove looks like the shape of a nose is Pabuc Burnu, ideal place for Gulets to anchor. The unequaled shape covered with bushes, the turqoise-colored waters and a string of pool-like Gulet shelters with calm water are the hallmarks of Pabuc Burnu. Yaliciftlik is settled outside of Bodrum peninsula and 30 kms from the city-center. It is enveloped by isolated small coves, crystal clear bluesea and charming pine forests. Through beautiful pine forests on a breezing road past white-washed cisterns is the beach at Yaliciftlik. This shingle beach has many many restaurants and cafes around it, serving good affordable delicious foods. The eastern end of the beach is sandy and in this beach, you can swim and sun-bath in solitude by the rocks a bit further on. Yaliciftlik is probably one of the finest sheltered places around the peninsula of Bodrum.
